OUR HISTORY
Our History – RaraNatura
THE SOUL OF A DREAM: RE-LIGHTING RARITY
Since its first day, RaraNatura has chosen a courageous mission:
to restore life and splendor to abandoned olive groves, custodians of rare and precious cultivars, some of which are at risk of extinction.
This dedication has led to a journey of passion, research, and recognition, a journey that has led our gourmet extra virgin olive oils to be recognized and celebrated in Italy and around the world as authentic expressions of the green gold of excellence.
WHERE IT ALL BEGAN
Our fascinating adventure began in the heart of an ancient Lucanian village, nestled among the high hills of the province of Potenza.
Guided by a love of nature and respect for tradition, we have begun a slow and meticulous work of recovery and revitalization of historic olive groves—native and ancient varieties, some unique to the small village of Acerenza, others restricted to a limited area of Basilicata.
With artisanal care, we have reproduced new olive trees from the suckers of the mother plants, to preserve their genetic heritage and give these cultivars a new chance to live and shine.
Thus, from an act of love and dedication, a company was born, but above all a vision: that of reviving rarity.
THE ROAD TO EXCELLENCE
Year after year, our passion for oil has grown along with our expertise.
We studied, experimented, and attended specialized courses, until we became professional tasters registered on the national list.
Our quest for the most refined and authentic aromas has become a journey of perfection: a journey of challenges, competitions, and recognition, but also of hard work, innovation, and peasant tenacity.
Our agricultural work began in 2011-2012: years of sacrifice and hope.
In 2015, the first fruits.
In 2016, the first national recognition.
Since then, RaraNatura has grown steadily, becoming known both at the Mediterranean and international levels as an ambassador for Italian quality and biodiversity.
ACHEROLIO: THE FIRST FRUIT OF THE DREAM
The symbol of our rebirth was Acherolio, our first oil, made from the Acerenza cultivar, an ancient and native variety, classified in the olive germplasm with the name of the village where it originated.
A rare, authentic variety — our flagship.
Acherolio's small productions are born on steep slopes, in difficult but generous soils, where the centuries-old olive trees live suspended between sky and stone.
It is an oil with an unmistakable character, intense aromas and elegant fruity notes, obtained through early harvesting and extraction methods studied to enhance every nuance.
Alongside Acerenza, we promote two other rare Lucanian cultivars, Racioppa Campana and Cannellina, both listed as endangered varieties, and other valuable varieties such as Coratina, Ogliarola, Cima di Melfi, Fasola, and Ogliarola del Vulture.
Each of them tells a different story of our territory.
ART AND NATURE:
THE SYMBOL THAT REPRESENTS US
Our logo, initially created for Acherolio, later became the symbol of the entire company.
It depicts a centuries-old olive tree from our fields, reinterpreted as a contemporary mosaic, designed by the founder himself.
A tribute to our dual soul: producers of olive oil, combining the creativity of art with the purity of the earth.
EVOLUTION, ACE OF OLIVE TREE
In 2018, Asso di Ulivo was born, the “little brother” of Acherolio — a surprising blend, created with experience and sensitivity, award-winning since its debut.
An oil that represents our vision of perfect balance, the result of our constant search for the ideal blend, capable of expressing the character of the territory and the art of know-how.
From here, RaraNatura opens up to new regions: Calabria, where it focuses on artisanal agri-food amidst hills overlooking the sea; and Puglia, where our sensory experimentation between tradition and innovation in olive oil continues.
A SYMBOL, A STORY, A WINNING CARD
The name Ace of Olives was born during a card game:
a smile, an intuition, and the idea of creating an oil that was the “ace up the sleeve” of Italian quality.
The ace of clubs in the Italian game is a symbol of strength and victory, it represents olive wood—our matter, our life.
For Puglia, we have chosen a trio of world-class olives, including the typical cultivars of northern Puglia: Coratina, Ogliarola, and Peranzana.
Three queen cultivars of northern Puglia, famous throughout the world, as successful as the aces of a poker deck, conferring mutual prestige.
Each one tells a story, an emotion, a different way of interpreting excellent oil.
RARANATURA TODAY
Today RaraNatura is a philosophy of life.
It's the desire to combine tradition, art, and innovation to create extra virgin olive oils that are not only delicious, but memorable.
Oils born from difficult places, from patient hands, from a deep love for the land.
Because our dream has never been just to produce oil, but… to restore value to time, rarity, and the authentic beauty of nature.
